All of our physicians at Tucson Heart Group are Board Certified.
James L. Evans, M.D., F.A.C.C.
A physician who is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiology, Dr.
Evans received his M.D. from Ohio State Medical School, and later completed internal
medicine training at Temple University and his cardiology fellowship training at
Northwestern University in Chicago. he currently specializes in diagnosis of coronary
artery disease and treatment with multi-vessel angioplasty.
Lionel Faitelson, M.D., F.A.C.C.
After receiveing his M.D. from the University of the Witwatersrand, Jahannesburg,
South Africa, he completed postgraduate training in internal medicine at Boston
University Hospital, and in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at Baylor College
of Medicine. Now part of Tucson Heart Group, Dr. Faitelson utilizes several new
techniques and devices for the control of heart rhythm problems, such as catheter
ablation and implantable defibrillators.
Laurie R. Dodd, M.D., Ph.D., Associates in Nuclear Medicine
Certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, Dr. Dodd received her Ph.D.
in Physiology from the University of Arizona. She later received her M.D., and finished
an internal medicine internship and nuclear medicine residency there as well. She
has been medical director of Associates in Nuclear Medicine in Tucson since 1999.
Basel Skeif, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Skeif completed postgraduate training in cardiology and interventional cardiology
at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore, New York. His professional carrer
includes the titles of Chief Resident at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Jacobi,
New York and Medical Director of the Heart Failure Division at Jersey Shore University
Medical Center, New Jersey. Dr. Skeif has performed research in heart failure, acute
coronary syndrome, and interventional cardiology which resulted in publication in
major cardiology journals.
Dietmar Gann, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Gann graduated from medical school at the University of Tuebingen, Germany,
at the top of his class, Summa Cum Laude. Prior to coming to Arizona, he was Associate
Professor of Cardiology at the University of Miami and Director of Miami Sinai Medical
Center Intensive Care Units.
Dr. Gann has been in private cardiology practice in Tucson over 25 years. He introduced
balloon angioplasty, atherectomy (roto-rooter) and valvuloplasty to Tucson. He has
published more than 40 scientific papers on diverse aspects in cardiology from pacemakers
to heart catheterization and heart surgery in octogenarians.
Dr Gann is currently progressing towards retirement and can now be found directing
Dr. Gann’s
Diet of Hope; a dietary approach to Heart Disease, Hypertension, and Diabetes.
